On Tuesday, police in Srinagar and Kulgam made significant drug-related arrests, seizing large quantities of contraband substances. In a crackdown at Narbal Sozieth Bund, Srinagar, officers intercepted a vehicle (CH01M-9496) and recovered 910 grams of a heroin-like substance. The driver, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khowaja (31), son of Abdul Hamid Khowaja from Dildar Karnah Kupwara, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.
Meanwhile, in Kulgam, another successful operation led to the arrest of Arsalan Azad Ganie (24), a resident of Malwan, after police recovered 10 kgs of a cannabis-like substance from his possession. Both individuals were taken into custody, and further investigations are underway.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been filed at the respective police stations, as authorities continue to probe the drug trafficking activities.
