Rajasthan Police have cracked a staged “hit-and-run” murder case in Sri Ganganagar, arresting four suspects in connection with the killing of Ashish. Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan confirmed that Ashish’s wife, Anju, conspired with her lover Sanju and two others, Rohit and Badal, to carry out the murder.
The couple had been married for only three months, but Anju was reportedly unhappy and in a relationship with Sanju. On January 31, police received a complaint that Ashish had died after being struck by an unidentified vehicle while walking at night. Forensic investigations, however, raised suspicions about the circumstances, prompting a deeper probe.
SP Duhan said, “Anju was the main culprit. This was not an accident but a premeditated murder.” Investigations revealed that Ashish’s regular evening walks were exploited to lead him to a secluded road, where Sanju and his accomplices waited.
On the night of January 31, Anju accompanied Ashish on his walk and guided him to the deserted location. There, the three men attacked and ultimately strangled him to death. Phone records and inconsistencies in Anju’s statements confirmed foul play.
All four accused—Anju, Sanju, Rohit, and Badal—have been arrested. The case is being treated as premeditated murder, highlighting the consequences of personal conflicts clashing with traditional marital expectations in rural Rajasthan.
