A South Florida man, Tiron Alexander, 35, has been convicted of fraud for impersonating a flight attendant to secure free flights from at least four airlines over six years.
On June 5, Alexander was found guilty of multiple counts of wire fraud and unlawfully entering secure airport areas, the Justice Department revealed this week.
Federal prosecutors detailed that Alexander forged employment records across seven airlines and booked dozens of complimentary flights reserved for airline staff.
From 2018 to 2024, Alexander flew over 120 times for free, using a con reminiscent of the movie “Catch Me If You Can,” according to authorities.
When reserving tickets online—which requires pilots or flight attendants to submit employer info, hire dates, and badge numbers—Alexander submitted about 30 fabricated badge numbers and hire dates across seven airlines.
Though employed by a Dallas-based airline since 2015, Alexander never worked as a pilot or flight attendant, prosecutors said. Notably, Southwest and American Airlines, two of the affected carriers, are headquartered in Dallas.
Alexander faces sentencing on August 25, with a potential penalty of up to 30 years in federal prison.
