Police have cracked a high-profile burglary case in Eldeco-2 Colony, arresting three inter-state criminals and recovering all stolen valuables from the residence of PGI doctor Dr. Priyavrat Shukla.
The accused — Sonu Singh (26), Shaktiman Singh (26), and Anurag Kumar Singh (20) — all hail from Kaimur, Bihar, and were apprehended near the Daluna railway underpass along Kisan Path on Tuesday. Police revealed all three are professional drivers.
The burglary occurred on July 12, during which the gang broke into Dr. Shukla’s locked home while he and his family were away for 20 days. The thieves stole laptops, tablets, a desktop computer, gold jewellery, mobile phones, a television, and a stolen Accent car.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Nipun Agarwal confirmed the seizure of stolen items, including the SUV used in the crime. The accused were identified through meticulous CCTV footage analysis and technical surveillance.
“The accused confessed to scouting locked houses and targeting them when they were sure no one was home,” said DCP Agarwal. The prime accused, Sonu Singh, reportedly has a criminal history with eight prior FIRs. The other two also have multiple cases registered against them across various police stations.
The FIR was registered under sections 305 and 331(4) BNS at PGI police station. Police are continuing investigations to uncover if the gang was involved in other similar burglaries.
