A traffic stop in Sonora, CA, led to the arrest of a 57-year-old man on drug-related charges. The incident occurred when a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy, patrolling Highway 108 near Cavalieri Road at night, pulled over a pickup truck due to a non-functioning license plate light.
The driver, 34-year-old Amy Locklin, and her passenger, 57-year-old Joseph Johnson, were questioned by the deputy. During a records check, it was revealed that Johnson had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from an outside agency, and Locklin had a misdemeanor cite-and-release warrant.
While patting down Johnson, the deputy found a small container of methamphetamine and a clear glass pipe, which appeared to have burn marks commonly associated with drug use. A subsequent check uncovered that Johnson had multiple prior drug convictions.
Johnson was arrested without incident on charges of possession of a controlled substance with prior drug offenses, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and his outstanding warrant. Locklin was issued a citation for her misdemeanor warrant.
