BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield police arrested six suspects during a suppression operation targeting organized retail theft, focusing on repeat offenders involved in multiple stores.
The operation, coordinated by the Bakersfield Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft unit on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, addressed thefts totaling $15,338.20 in losses across local retailers.
Key arrests include:
Sonny Cardoza, 46: Charged with grand theft, organized retail theft, shoplifting, and possession of stolen property; linked to 18 theft cases at Lowe’s, Target, JCPenney, and Tractor Supply.
Anthony Carbone, 42: Charged with grand theft, organized retail theft, and conspiracy; involved in four thefts at Marshalls and TJ Maxx.
Rafael Gillopez, 39, and Monique Yniguez, 40: Charged with grand theft, organized retail theft, conspiracy, burglary, and shoplifting; linked to 10 Lowe’s thefts.
Kyle Ridge, 27: Charged with grand theft, organized retail theft, and possession of a controlled substance; tied to eight Lowe’s thefts.
Nicholas Ayala, 31: Arrested on active felony warrants.
The unit has worked closely with local retailers since 2023 to combat organized theft, recover stolen property, and hold offenders accountable.
