Two women, Sonam Kumawat (21) from Scheme No. 78 and Preeti Bairwa (25) from Chitawad Palda, were arrested by Heera Nagar police for stealing gold jewellery and cash from a home. The accused targeted houses by pretending to be domestic workers seeking employment and struck when they found women alone.

The theft was reported on June 23, when the homeowner left for work after locking valuable gold items — including a mangalsutra, chain, ring, and earrings — along with cash inside a wooden cupboard. Later that evening, the wife informed him that the valuables were missing. She also mentioned that a woman claiming to be a domestic helper had visited the house and left behind a suitcase.

Following the complaint, police registered a case under Section 305 of the BNS. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage and tracked down the suspects after a tip-off. When approached by police, the women attempted to flee but were caught. Both confessed to the crime, and the stolen items were recovered.

Further questioning is ongoing to uncover any additional crimes linked to the duo.
