A 49-year-old woman named Somjit surrendered to police after being involved in the transportation of 200,000 methamphetamine pills from northern to southern Thailand. She fled into the forest fearing for her life after police intercepted the drugs and she did not receive her promised payment of 50,000 baht.

The surrender took place on June 10 at a petrol station in Na Reng subdistrict, Nopphitam district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, under the supervision of Police Major General Witaya Sriprasert and his team.

Somjit was wanted under a warrant issued by the Thung Song Provincial Court for conspiracy to commit serious drug offenses and distributing category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, threatening national security.

In April, police arrested 28-year-old Chanjira with over 240,000 methamphetamine pills in Thung Song district. Suspicious packages from Chiang Mai, sent under Somjit’s name, were linked to this case.

Police investigation revealed Somjit’s role in sending drugs via private delivery from Chiang Mai to southern drug networks. After police intercepted the shipment, she fled but later contacted relatives and surrendered, fearing retaliation from the drug gang.

During questioning, Somjit admitted partial involvement, explaining that a man named Baw had hired her in March with the promise of high payment to transport the drugs. She collected six boxes on the roadside in Chiang Mai and shipped them south, but the police’s intervention prevented her payment.

She is now held at Thung Song police station for further legal proceedings, as reported by KhaoSod.
