NAIROBI, Kenya (Jan 12, 2025) – Popular social media personality and car dealer Joseph Kairobi, also known as Khalif Kairo, has been arrested again on allegations of defrauding a client by failing to deliver a vehicle after receiving full payment.
Kairo was apprehended and taken into custody at Capitol Hill Police Station on Saturday after a confrontation with police officers. Video footage circulating online shows Kairo pleading with officers, insisting that he was not being harassed and that the situation would be resolved. In one video, Kairo is heard saying, “Si vita, you are not going to harass me, you can’t harass me bana! You wait I sort things out.”
However, the exchange escalated, with an officer warning him, “Ebu thubutu! Wacha ujinga bwana! Do you think you are the first person to come here? Unaona niko na clients pale kwa ofisi… sitakuruhusu ulete ujinga hapa. Sisi tunapiga watu. Tutakupiga hapa saa hii tu!”
The arrest followed allegations that Kairo had failed to deliver a vehicle to a client, despite the client having already paid the full amount for the purchase. Kairo had reportedly claimed he was planning a trip to New York to secure funds and resolve the issue, but was unable to convince the victim of his intentions.
This is not the first time Kairo has faced such accusations. In December 2024, he was detained at a car yard in Ridgeways after similar allegations of failing to deliver a high-end vehicle to another client. The repeated accusations have raised concerns about Kairo’s business practices, especially given his significant presence on social media.
As of now, Kairo remains in police custody while investigations continue into the latest allegations.
