Two people are behind bars following a drug investigation at the Whistling Pines Motel in Elizabeth City.
Authorities say a judge signed a temporary restraining order against the motel after an investigation by North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement revealed a history of drug sales, overdoses, assaults, and prostitution at the property.
Last Monday, deputies with the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Elizabeth City Police Department and ALE agents, executed a search warrant and multiple arrest warrants at the motel.
During the operation, Snody Slade, 37, and Ciera Harvey, 37, were arrested. Investigators say the pair had been using motel rooms since November to store and distribute crack cocaine throughout Pasquotank County and nearby communities.
Both were charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and/or deliver cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for keeping and selling controlled substances. They were taken to the Pasquotank County Jail and each posted a $10,000 bond.
Officials say the investigation into criminal activity at the motel remains ongoing.
