Police in Ondo State have arrested six suspected fake pastors involved in a miracle scam targeting members of the public in Idanre. The suspects—Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola—allegedly posed as religious leaders, performing staged miracles and spiritual interventions to gain victims’ trust.
Authorities say the suspects exploited individuals’ faith and vulnerabilities by promising divine solutions to financial, health, and personal problems, only to defraud them. The arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation by the Ondo State Police Command Tactical Teams in collaboration with Community Safety Officers.
Police spokesperson DSP Jimoh Abayomi noted that the suspects operated in a coordinated manner, assigning roles to create a convincing façade of legitimacy. Investigations are ongoing to determine the total number of victims, financial losses, and any additional collaborators still at large.
All six suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. The police urge the public to verify religious claims, exercise caution with financial demands, and report suspicious activities. DSP Abayomi emphasized that the Command is committed to ensuring safety and protecting lives across Ondo State.
