Six members of an auto theft gang were arrested in Gautam Buddha Nagar on Monday, according to police reports. Authorities seized seven stolen cars from the gang members.
The operation took place late Sunday night when a police team stationed near Sector 76 Metro Station signaled a car to stop. Instead of stopping, the passengers allegedly opened fire on the officers, as stated by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Badan Singh.
In response, police fired back, injuring one of the suspects, Sonu (27), who was shot in the leg. Meanwhile, two other gang members, Pawan Kumar (31) from Hapur and Raghuvansh (27) from Meerut, attempted to flee but were caught by the police.
During interrogation, the arrested suspects revealed the identities of three additional gang members: Gurmeet Singh (55) and Amit (35), both from Delhi, and Satish (40) from Sonipat, Haryana. These three individuals were also arrested.
Along with the stolen cars, police recovered car parts, three electronic devices used for car theft, and illegal weapons from the gang members. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities continue to dismantle the gang.
