Police have seized a total of 724 grams of the synthetic drug MDMA and arrested six persons in two separate cases registered at Mulki and Surathkal police stations, officials said.
In the first case registered at Mulki police station (Crime No. 124/2025 dated December 6, 2025), police arrested four accused and recovered 524 grams of MDMA from their possession. The arrested individuals were identified as:
Mohammad Shiyab alias Shiyab (22), a resident of Chatin Kere, Maski, Navunda gram, Kundapur, Byndoor taluk, Udupi district
Mohammad Naushad alias Naushad (29), resident of Kallara Kodi, Naringana gram, Ullal taluk
Imran alias Imbu (27), resident of Kasaba Bengre, near Kileria Masjid, Mangaluru
Nisar Ahmed (36), resident of AK Residency, Ramal Katte, near Bantara Bhavana, Brahmarakotlu, Bantwal taluk
In a second case registered at Surathkal police station (Crime No. 171/2025), police arrested two more accused and seized 200 grams of MDMA. The arrested persons were identified as:
Mohammad Iqbal (30), resident of SMS Manzil, near Mallar Panchayat, Majuru, Kapu post, Udupi district
Sheharaj Sharook (25), resident behind the government primary school, Kanchinadaka, Padubidre, Udupi district
Police said further investigation is underway in both cases to trace the source of the MDMA, identify suppliers, and uncover the wider drug distribution network operating in the coastal region. The accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
