Six individuals were arrested in Jaipur for their involvement in an online job fraud targeting a woman from Faridabad, police confirmed on Saturday. The accused were sent to four days of police remand following a court hearing.
Among those arrested were a final-year college student and a cloth store employee. The victim, a resident of SGM Nagar, Faridabad, reported receiving a WhatsApp message about a part-time job opportunity. She was initially paid Rs850 for completing 25 tasks, but later asked to pay Rs10,000 to continue working after being added to a Telegram group.
Police revealed that the fraudsters amassed Rs1,44,500 through multiple bank transactions, preventing victims from retrieving their funds. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at the Cyber Police Station, NIT, Faridabad.
The accused — Kunal Khamani, Heeralal, Raju Ram, Subhash, Jeetu Kumawat, and Kamal — were responsible for managing the bank accounts used to deposit and withdraw the illicit money.
