The Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, working with Amberpet Police Station, busted an organized online Satta betting racket at a rented flat in Bathakammakunta, Bagh Amberpet. Six individuals involved in the illegal betting operation were arrested.
The accused — Voddepelli Naveen (24), a carpenter, Pudari Sai Kiran (24), Soma Mahender (24), Bingi Sai Kiran (23), Bingi Avinash (30), and Sana Sai Preetham (25) — were found running the betting operation from a flat they rented two months ago for Rs 14,000 per month.
Police seized Rs 79,000 in bank balances, betting collections, 17 mobile phones, laptops, a car, a bike, and stamps, valued collectively at Rs 20 lakh.
DCP YVS Sudheendra explained the accused created multiple fake Facebook profiles with unverified numbers to promote Satta betting. They attracted victims by promising small profits initially but manipulated betting outcomes to ensure losses as investments increased.
The group charged registration fees of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for number predictions, used online payments via QR codes, Google Pay, PhonePe, and UPI to collect money. Fake promotional videos, with one posing as a successful punter, were also used to lure more victims.
The suspects are natives of Kagaz Nagar and operated from Bathakammakunta. The arrested and seized items are now with Amberpet Police for further investigation.
