Sioux Falls Daycare Worker Arrested for Child Abuse of Infants
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A 38-year-old daycare worker, Chelsea Struss, was arrested on Tuesday, April 15, following allegations of child abuse involving four infants under the age of 1.
Struss faces four charges of Abuse of a Minor under 7 years old after an investigation by the Sioux Falls Police Department. Police responded to a daycare located in the 3300 block of West 49th Street after receiving a call reporting that Struss had physically mishandled the children.
Disturbing Footage Captures Abuse
According to police, surveillance footage at the daycare showed Struss roughly carrying the children and dropping them onto mats. The incident reportedly took place earlier that day, and a concerned parent alerted authorities. Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted shortly after the incident was discovered.
Arrest and Bail
Struss was arrested without incident, and she is currently being held at the Minnehaha County Jail with a $25,000 cash bond. Investigators are continuing their inquiry into the case.
This incident has raised concerns about safety at local daycares, prompting further scrutiny into care procedures and surveillance in such facilities.
