SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Authorities have arrested Sincere Gibbs, the 18-year-old suspect in a violent South Carolina shooting that left seven people wounded and others injured during a large party in Orangeburg County.
Gibbs was the subject of an extensive multi-county manhunt following the March 29 shooting on Five Chop Road, where, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, Gibbs allegedly opened fire into a crowded party, hitting seven individuals. Additional injuries occurred as guests were trampled while fleeing the chaos.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his arrest on Monday. Gibbs is currently being held at the Sumter County Detention Center.
He faces serious felony charges, including:
Seven counts of attempted murder
Three counts of instigating a riot with a weapon
One count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime
One count of aggravated breach of peace
Authorities have not released details on how Gibbs was located but confirmed he is in custody and awaiting further legal proceedings.
