In a significant operation, Sikkim Police have successfully dismantled a major drug network, arresting three individuals and seizing a large quantity of narcotics in a targeted raid in Salangthang, Kalikhola, Ranka.
A specialized team from the Sadar Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Tamanraj Gurung, executed the raid with precision, raiding a rented property. The operation was conducted with legal oversight and independent witnesses, leading to a breakthrough against the local drug trade.
The arrested suspects are Narendra Ijam (37) from Salangthang, Suraj Tamang (26) from Radang, and Gokul Tamang (25) from Arithang. Police seized 93.99 grams of suspected brown sugar, 17 bottles of RX Codeine Phosphate syrup, along with electronic devices, wristwatches, and three vehicles believed to be involved in drug transportation.
The authorities have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Sikkim Anti-Drugs and Anti-Human Trafficking Act. The police investigation is ongoing, with efforts to uncover further links in the drug network.
