Siddhartha Kumar Arrested in Sumit Singh Murder Case in Ara

Prime accused and main shooter caught with 9mm pistol

The prime accused and alleged main shooter in the murder of Ara-based medicine trader Sumit Singh was arrested on Monday. Police apprehended Siddhartha Kumar, also known as Narayan Singh, a resident of Paiga village under Barhara police station, and seized a 9mm pistol along with a magazine from him.

Sumit Singh, 35, a native of Farhada village in Barhara block, was shot dead near his residence at Mahavir Tola under Town police station, Ara, on the night of September 5. The incident triggered protests in the area.

During interrogation, Bhojpur SP Raj revealed that Siddhartha Kumar confessed to the crime, citing personal enmity as the motive behind the murder. While two other accused have already been arrested, two more have surrendered before the Ara court, the SP added.
