SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA — Authorities have arrested Siang Sokunthea, a 39-year-old woman, for online fraud after she scammed numerous customers through a fake Facebook shop.

On July 11, 2025, the Siem Reap Military Police detained Sokunthea at a Wing Cashier Shop in Mondul 1 Village, Svay Dangkum Sangkat, Siem Reap City. The arrest followed complaints from multiple victims who alleged they paid for goods that were never delivered.

Investigators revealed that Sokunthea operated under a Facebook account named Rim CaR SHOP, which falsely advertised the sale of car-related materials. According to her confession, she bought the page in 2023 and began taking orders, but never shipped any items. After receiving payment, she would block customers and disappear.

By 2025, dozens of orders remained unfulfilled, prompting a full investigation and her eventual arrest. The case has now been forwarded to the Siem Reap Provincial Court for legal proceedings.

Authorities are urging online buyers to verify sellers and avoid sending money to unverified accounts.
