BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Shyleek L. Favor, 19, of Queens, has been sentenced to nine and a half years in state prison, plus five years of post-release supervision, for attempted murder and other offenses, the Broome County District Attorney’s Office reported.
The case began on August 16, 2024, when Vestal Police stopped Favor’s vehicle for traffic violations. Officers discovered two loaded 9mm handguns—one under the passenger seat and another under the driver’s seat—along with 27 pills later identified as oxycodone. Favor was arrested on criminal possession of a weapon charges and held on $20,000 bail.
On November 22, 2024, Favor was arrested again for attempted murder after firing five rounds from an illegally owned gun into a residential neighborhood, injuring one person in the buttocks and thigh. Following this arrest, he was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
Favor pled guilty to attempted murder on April 28, 2025, expecting a nine-year sentence plus post-release supervision. While in custody, he faced two additional arrests in July 2025 for promoting prison contraband and conspiracy. These incidents led to an increased sentence of nine and a half years in state prison with five years of post-release supervision.
Authorities emphasized that Favor will remain incarcerated while serving his sentence for the violent crimes and additional offenses committed during his time in custody.
