Charlotte County deputies are investigating a series of burglaries in Englewood, where homes with hurricane shutters have been targeted, signaling the occupants are away.
A confidential informant identified Shyla Robinett and another man as the individuals allegedly involved. Robinett is accused of selling over $9,000 in stolen jewelry from a home on San Casa Drive and attempting to sell stolen glass fish figurines from another property via Auction Exchange USA. Text messages reportedly show discussions about melting stolen items.
Robinett was arrested for knowingly trafficking stolen property and taken to the Charlotte County Jail. She has not yet been charged in connection with the burglaries, which remain under investigation.
Deputies advise homeowners to hire services to remove and store hurricane shutters to prevent attracting burglars.
