Two men were arrested by Taramani police for stealing metals from a private company’s warehouse in Chennai. Authorities recovered 84.45 kg of aluminium and 30 kg of brass, valued at approximately Rs4.5 lakh.
The theft came to light on November 15 during a routine stock check at a warehouse in Kottivakkam. Officials found that 85 kg of aluminium, 113 kg of brass, and 326 kg of copper cylinders, worth a total of Rs4.64 lakh, were missing. Following a complaint, police launched an investigation.
CCTV footage revealed that an employee, along with an accomplice, had taken the metals. Acting on the evidence, police arrested Shyam Sundar (23) of Perungudi and Rajendran (55) of Taramani, who were found to have purchased the stolen material. Both were produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. Police are continuing efforts to locate the prime suspect involved in the theft.
