In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Crime Branch Anti-Narcotics Squad in Nagpur arrested four individuals and seized MD powder and related assets worth Rs4.67 lakh. The operation was carried out on Saturday, May 17, between 9:30 am and 11:00 am near the Ujjwal Nagar water tank, under the Kapil Nagar Police Station limits.
Acting on specific intelligence about a planned drug deal, officers laid a trap and intercepted two vehicles — a motorbike and a scooter — believed to be used for the transaction. The individuals riding the vehicles were identified as:
Shrijan alias Happy Brijesh Pandey (22)
Sanskar Laxman Yadav (25)
Raunak Siddharth Chaudhary (19)
All three are residents of Nagpur.
During the search, the squad recovered:
12 grams of MD powder in a ziplock bag
Three mobile phones
Rs2,000 in cash
Two two-wheelers
Following their interrogation, the trio revealed the name of a fourth accomplice, Pritam Bam Bole (21), also from Nagpur, who was arrested shortly after.
All four have been booked under Sections 8(a), 22(b), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, and Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil. The Crime Branch team, led by DCP Rahul Maknikar and ACP Abhijit Patil, included officers Gajanan Gulhane, Manoj Neware, Shailesh Dobole, and others.
The accused and seized items were handed over to the Kapil Nagar Police Station for further investigation.
