As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian arrested a drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of contraband.
During a routine naka check at Dachnoo Heerpora, officers from Police Station Heerpora apprehended a suspicious individual. A search of the accused led to the recovery of approximately 5 kg of cannabis-like substance.
The accused has been identified as Aslam Kalas, a resident of Devpora. An FIR (No. 06/2026) under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation into the case has commenced.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to creating a drug-free society and urged citizens to cooperate in curbing the menace of narcotics.
