The Madukkarai police arrested a woman, M. Shobana (40), from Kurichi on Monday for her alleged involvement in the murder of Balusamy (40) of Seerapalayam.

Balusamy’s body was discovered stuffed inside a gunny bag in a canal along the Coimbatore-Pollachi Road. Earlier, on Sunday, the police had arrested Mahalingam (41) of Madurai for the murder, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a financial transaction.

Authorities said that Shobana played a key role in the killing alongside Mahalingam, and her arrest marks a significant step in the investigation.

Police continue probing the case to uncover the full circumstances leading to the brutal homicide.
