Shiv Shankar Jaiswal Caught Impersonating TTE in Ahmedabad

A labourer from Varanasi, Shiv Shankar Jaiswal (45), was caught impersonating a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Ahmedabad Railway Station, cheating passengers by promising confirmed seats that didn’t exist.

Wearing a fake TTE uniform, Jaiswal roamed platforms and foot-over bridges near Sabarmati, targeting unsuspecting travelers. An alert RPF officer became suspicious of his behaviour and questioned him. When Jaiswal failed to produce official ID, documents, or digital payment proofs, he was taken to the RPF post for further interrogation.

During questioning, Jaiswal admitted to tricking passengers into paying via UPI QR codes, charging between Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 for fake confirmed seats. Investigations revealed he had committed a similar scam on May 30 at the same station.

The accused has been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal action.
