Shimla police have arrested two men linked to an illicit drug network in Rohru, officials said on Sunday. The accused, Shishu Pal (43) and Ravi Chauhan (31), are residents of Bartu village in the area.
Authorities stated that both were part of a local drug supply network, and their arrest follows the March 12 detention of Lalit Kumar alias Bunny, a resident of Sundha Bhonda village in Chirgaon, who was found in possession of 6 grams of chitta.
A case was registered against Lalit Kumar under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Subsequent investigation led the police to identify Pal and Chauhan as network operatives. A coordinated police operation resulted in their arrest.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Gaurav Singh, confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation into the network is ongoing.
The arrests are part of Shimla police’s continued crackdown on narcotics and efforts to dismantle organized drug networks in the region.
