Shawntez Holmes Arrested After Standoff in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A 30-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after a brief standoff in southeast Topeka, according to authorities.

Topeka police responded to a disturbance call around 9:20 p.m. on the 2300 block of S.E. Kentucky Ave. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a victim who reported being the victim of aggravated battery.

Officers then engaged with the suspect, Shawntez Holmes, who refused to exit the residence. After a brief standoff, Holmes was taken into custody without further incident.

Holmes, of Topeka, was booked into the Shawnee County Jail at 2:30 a.m. Friday. He faces several charges, including:

Aggravated assault

Aggravated domestic battery

Domestic battery

Aggravated intimidation of a victim

Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Interference with a law enforcement officer

Criminal restraint

Criminal damage
