Mumbai police have arrested 27-year-old Shareef Ali Shamsher Ali Sheikh for the murder of a 64-year-old woman at Kanchan Co-operative Society in Bandra. The crime was uncovered on Monday when a neighbor reported a foul smell coming from the woman’s apartment.
A police team was formed and apprehended Sheikh within two hours of discovering the victim’s body. According to officials, Sheikh had broken into the woman’s apartment, attacked her with a sharp weapon, tied her to a chair, and then stolen her valuables. After his arrest, Sheikh confessed to the crime, and the stolen items were recovered. Legal proceedings are currently underway.
