Bokaro, Jharkhand — In a major operation targeting organized crime, Bokaro Police arrested six criminals involved in a series of robberies and thefts near Chandrapura railway station. The crackdown led to the recovery of arms, stolen vehicles, and mobile phones, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The operation began with a special checking drive near New Pipradih Milan Chowk, where police intercepted a suspicious white car. The two occupants attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.
The arrested men were identified as:
Shankar Kumar Das
Mukesh Yadav — both residents of Chandrapura
According to Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh, a revolver with one live cartridge and two mobile phones were recovered from Mukesh Yadav, while Shankar Das was found with a 12-inch knife and a phone.
During interrogation, the duo admitted they were planning to rob passengers near the Chandrapura railway station using the recovered weapons.
Further questioning uncovered their connection to a tractor theft case reported on July 22, 2025, in Madanpur village. The stolen tractor was later sold to a scrap dealer, Pramod Kumar Saw, in Hazaribag district.
Acting on leads, police conducted swift follow-up raids and arrested four more associates:
Umesh Das
Dilip Kumar Mahto
Rajesh Karmali
Pramod Kumar Saw (scrap dealer)
The arrests mark a significant blow to organized theft operations in the region. Police say all six accused have extensive criminal records, and their coordinated action shows signs of a professional crime ring operating in Bokaro and nearby areas.
