Two Syracuse residents, Shamari Byrd, 30, and Shawntisha Gray, 33, were arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly stealing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at Eastview Mall in the Town of Victor, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Store employees reported the shoplifting incident on June 24 after Byrd and Gray allegedly selected items from multiple store areas and left without paying. Byrd is accused of stealing $1,002 in merchandise and faces several charges, including grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony. She also allegedly gave deputies a false name and signed documents under that alias, resulting in additional charges of second-degree forgery and false personation. Byrd was taken to Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Gray was accused of stealing $348 in merchandise and charged with petit larceny. She was issued an appearance ticket and later turned over to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant.
