The Bandlaguda Police arrested a 24-year-old man on March 25 for allegedly running a property fraud scheme by posing as a property owner and cheating unsuspecting buyers. Four other accused linked to the case are currently absconding.

The arrested individual has been identified as Shaik Omer Amoodi. According to police, he and his associates worked as real estate brokers and carried out a planned fraud.

Investigators revealed that the group would rent residential properties and then falsely present themselves as the owners. They would use this false identity to collect mortgage payments or advance money from victims.

The scam surfaced after a complaint was filed by Mohammed Nusrath Begum, who alleged that she was cheated of Rs3 lakh by the accused.

During interrogation, Shaik Omer reportedly confessed and named his associates—Mohammed Bin Osman Masqati, Mohammed Basith, Ali Jabri, and Shakeer Hussain—who are currently on the run.

Police officials stated that efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused, identify additional victims, and follow the financial trail to determine the full scale of the operation.

Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious while dealing with property transactions. Citizens are advised to thoroughly verify ownership documents and credentials before making any financial commitments.
