In a major drug bust, three lab technicians and a student were arrested for allegedly selling the sedative drug Midazolam in various parts of the town. The arrests took place on Thursday, after police seized 26 vials of Midazolam, four mobile phones, and 10 syringes from the accused.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Janaki Sharmila confirmed that the arrested individuals are Shaik Fardeen, Chawan Govind, Mohd Abdul Danish, all lab technicians, and Mohd Parvej, a student, from different parts of the town. They were caught in the act of administering injections of Midazolam to young customers, following a tip-off.
During interrogation, the four suspects confessed to learning about the drug from YouTube videos three years ago. They revealed that they were charging Rs 500 per injection and sharing the profits amongst themselves.
Authorities have highlighted the dangers of such illegal drug activities and warned that strict action will continue against anyone found dealing with narcotics.
