Seven Men Arrested in Cumberland County Trafficking Sting

DA links arrests to ongoing anti-human trafficking effort

by Sophia Bennett

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA — Seven men were arrested at a Silver Spring Township hotel on April 16 as part of a human trafficking sting, according to District Attorney Seán M. McCormack. The arrests are part of Operation Impact Demand, a task force initiative targeting the demand side of sex trafficking in the region.

Authorities say the men attempted to solicit sex from women they believed to be escorts, unknowingly participating in a law enforcement operation designed to expose and deter prostitution and trafficking-related crimes.

The men arrested are:

Jacob Bashore, 34, of Lancaster

Thomas Daughtrey, 53, of Red Lion

Seth Finkey, 45, of Carlisle

Scott Geissler, 54, of Hanover

Gregory Gemberling, 67, of Freeburg

Michael Kurtz, 40, of Carlisle

Justin Mannino, 36, of Conestoga

As of Friday, 93 individuals have been arrested under Operation Impact Demand, which the DA says sends a strong message to those fueling trafficking networks.

“This is not a victimless crime,” said DA McCormack. “The money these individuals spend on prostitution-related activities is the money that fuels human trafficking in Cumberland County.”

Preliminary hearings for the suspects will be held at Magisterial District Court 09-3-04, with dates yet to be announced. Court documents were not available at the time of reporting.
