SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Seven suspects were arrested Tuesday afternoon during a drug bust at a High Street apartment building in Springfield, resulting in the seizure of over 100 grams of crack cocaine.
The operation, conducted by the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) and the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, followed weeks of investigation into drug distribution at the location.
Detectives began surveillance around noon and observed suspects involved in narcotics distribution, including 23-year-old Anthony Tejada-Cruz, 30-year-old Jose Baez, 46-year-old Juan Torres, 23-year-old Jaylin Williams, and 20-year-old Derek Morales.
Undercover officers entered the building at approximately 1:30 p.m., discovering crack cocaine openly visible in hallways and stairwells. Additional officers moved in for enforcement, arresting Williams, 20-year-old Anthony Alonso-Alomar, 28-year-old Omar Perry, Baez, Torres, and Tejada-Cruz. Morales was arrested separately after entering an apartment.
Detectives recovered about 49 grams of crack cocaine from Williams, with additional amounts found throughout the building and outside, totaling approximately 104.3 grams. Four oxycodone pills and $2,460 in cash were also seized from Perry.
