The Puducherry Cyber Police arrested seven individuals on Wednesday in connection with operating mule accounts for financial fraud. Among the accused were four engineering graduates.

The arrested persons have been identified as Harish, Ganesan, Govindaraj, Yashwin, Rahul, Ayyappan, and Thomas alias Hayagriva.

During the operation, police seized approximately Rs5 lakh, along with bank passbooks, 171 cheque books, 75 ATM cards, 20 mobile phones, computers, laptops, credit cards, and a Hyundai Verna car from the accused.

Authorities revealed that the group allegedly facilitated illegal transactions through mule accounts, helping cybercriminals launder money and commit fraud. The investigation is ongoing to trace the extent of their network and any additional accomplices.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious banking activity to prevent becoming victims of similar cyber frauds.
