On Sunday, Patna police arrested seven individuals in connection with three separate criminal cases reported from Rajiv Nagar, Parsa Bazar, and Khusrupur police station areas.
SSP Kartikeya K Sharma detailed the first case involving extortion. On June 19, Pritam Kumar Singh, a resident of Avatar Nagar, Chhapra, but living in Gandhi Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, was targeted with a demand for Rs10 lakh. The accused, Anuj Kumar, who is an acquaintance of the complainant, was arrested from Chhapra. During interrogation, Anuj revealed he demanded the money and threatened to kill the complainant’s only son if payment was not made.
In the second case, Gudiya Kumari, her husband Vijay Kumar, and her lover Ashwin Kumar were arrested for the murder of Suraj, a man who was involved in a relationship with Gudiya. On June 19, Suraj’s unidentified body was discovered in Etwarpur under Parsa Bazar jurisdiction. Investigations revealed Suraj was blackmailing Gudiya, prompting her, along with her husband and lover, to kill him. Police recovered the murder weapon—a knife—at the scene.
The third incident involved a gunfight between two rival groups near Lodipur Paswan Chowk in the Khusrupur area. Three suspects were arrested, and police seized three firearms and 12 cartridges. The clash stemmed from ongoing enmity between the factions.
SSP Sharma confirmed all cases are under active investigation.
