Seven miscreants were arrested in connection with the theft of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from Krishna Jewellers, located near Dibdih flyover, on the night between December 31 and January 1. The accused were also found attempting to sell the stolen jewelry.
According to DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, the arrests were made following a tip-off. The main accused, Tafazul Sheikh, Kamrooz Jamal, Salman Sheikh, and Daud Sheikh, were apprehended from Sahibganj district on Monday night. Additionally, Gulab Mohammad, Madan Swarnkar, and Ajay Kumar were arrested for allegedly receiving and attempting to sell the stolen items.
All the accused hail from Sahibganj district, with some having a criminal history of involvement in petty thefts. The police recovered a total of 149 pieces of silver jewelry (weighing 1,538 gm), a gold earring, and Rs 12,000 in cash from the arrested individuals.
The police investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to probe into the group’s activities and potential further criminal links.
