Selena Vargas Charged in Southwest Side Shooting Incident

Woman arrested for aggravated battery with firearm discharge

Chicago police have charged Selena Vargas, 29, in connection with the shooting of a 34-year-old man on the city’s Southwest Side this week.

Vargas was arrested Thursday and faces one felony count of aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm.

Authorities identified Vargas as a suspect in the shooting that occurred in the 5100 block of South Campbell Avenue about an hour before her arrest.

Police have not released details on what led to the shooting.

Vargas was scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Saturday. No further information has been provided at this time.
