ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A 24-year-old woman, Selena Green of Lakeland, Greendale, St Catherine, has been charged with obtaining money by false pretense after allegedly scamming nearly $1.2 million from a buyer for a vehicle she claimed was being sold through her father’s car mart.
Green is accused of taking J$1,185,000 from a complainant on Sunday, April 20, for the purchase of a motor vehicle that was never produced. After the vehicle failed to materialize, the buyer reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation.
During their inquiry, law enforcement discovered that Green had no car to sell and was not employed at the car mart as she had led the buyer to believe. Following this revelation, she was arrested and charged with the offense.
A court date for Selena Green is currently being finalized, where she will face the charges.
