Khon Kaen Security Guard Arrested for Stealing 2,000 Baht from Student’s Motorcycle
KHON KAEN — A security guard at a major shopping centre in Khon Kaen was arrested for stealing 2,000 baht (approximately US$60) from the storage compartment of a university student’s motorcycle.
The incident took place on Sunday, July 13 at around 5:30 p.m. The student, who attends Khon Kaen University, had accidentally left her wallet behind while at the shopping centre.
CCTV footage clearly showed Kasidit “Mark” Klongyut, 32, patrolling the motorcycle parking area and noticing the cash in the storage compartment. He then took 2,000 baht before resuming his duties.
The student realized her money was missing when she tried to pay for a birthday cake and quickly returned to check her motorcycle. Upon finding the cash gone, she reported the theft to Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station.
Police reviewed the CCTV footage and confirmed the suspect was Kasidit after consulting the shopping centre’s head of security. When questioned, Kasidit confessed to the theft and admitted he had already spent most of the stolen money, leaving only 500 baht.
