Hyattsville, MD – A security guard has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a McDonald’s in Prince George’s County on March 1, 2025. The shooting occurred around 8:25 p.m. at the McDonald’s located in the 2300 block of University Boulevard. Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered the victim, identified as 45-year-old Ricardo Clemons Jr., who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, the suspect, 54-year-old Murwanashyaka Francois of Gaithersburg, was employed as a security guard at the McDonald’s. Investigators believe an altercation took place between Francois and Clemons inside the restaurant, which escalated into a fatal shooting. Authorities have not yet disclosed the details of the confrontation.
Francois has been charged with second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime. He is currently being held without bond at the Department of Corrections. A preliminary court hearing has been scheduled for April 1, 2025.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation and the shooting. The police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
