Two habitual offenders involved in a series of snatching and theft cases were arrested by the Secunderabad Railway Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday. The arrests led to the recovery of 114.6 grams of gold, valued at approximately Rs11.45 lakh.
The suspects were identified as Thamballa Nithin (27), an auto-rickshaw driver from Anisettipally in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, and Indirala Rajesh (35), a cab driver from Nizamabad. Both were caught in the early hours near platform number 1 at Secunderabad Railway Station.
According to authorities, the two have been linked to four snatching incidents and two theft cases reported earlier this year. The arrest was a coordinated effort between the Railway Police and RPF as part of an intensified crackdown on repeat offenders targeting railway passengers.
Investigations are ongoing to determine if the duo is connected to a broader network operating across the region.
