Sebastian Man Arrested for Allegedly Signing Fraudulent Roofing Checks

Ricardo Barrera Accused of Defrauding Roofing Companies with Fake Checks

by Sophia Bennett

Sebastian, Fla. (CBS12) — A Sebastian man, Ricardo Barrera, 57, has been arrested on fraud charges for allegedly signing fraudulent checks intended for a roofing company. On May 23, officers from the Sebastian Police Department (SPD) located and arrested Barrera on an active warrant.

According to police, Barrera operated through his LLC, R&M Exterior, which was subcontracted by major roofing companies. However, instead of forwarding payments from homeowners or insurance companies to the roofing companies, Barrera allegedly kept the money for himself.

Barrera now faces multiple charges, including organized fraud, cashing or depositing items with intent to defraud, and grand theft. He was booked into the Indian River County jail and is being held on a $110,000 bond.a
