Scott Alexander Sanders, an Alabama man, was arrested on February 24 for grand theft after allegedly stealing over $350,000 in construction payments from a retiree. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the case began in March 2024 when authorities learned that Sanders misappropriated more than 75% of the payments he received for building a new home.

Sanders is the owner of Tatum and Associates, Inc., a custom home builder and remodeling contractor based in Marianna. The investigation revealed that Sanders had stolen $351,366.42 from the victim, who hired him to construct her new home. The construction was never completed, and Sanders ceased all communication with the victim in December 2023.

He was arrested and booked into the Bay County Jail on February 24.
