The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Tuesday apprehended Sayyad Mohd Siraj Rabbani, a resident of Barabanki near Airport Road, while he was preparing to distribute a large drug consignment in Prayagraj.

Authorities seized 700 grams of smack valued at Rs 1.40 crore from Rabbani, who has been booked under sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act.

Police revealed that the drug shipment originated from Manipur and was intended for distribution across several districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, Rabbani admitted to smuggling drugs from northeastern states based on demand and dispatching them to eastern UP for substantial profits.

ANTF teams from both Prayagraj and Varanasi have been closely monitoring the operations of drug racketeers smuggling narcotics into eastern UP districts from the Northeast, leading to this significant bust.
