Savy You, a 39-year-old man from Toronto, has been arrested for drug trafficking in Hay River, N.W.T. for the third time in 2024.
The arrest followed a tip-off after a social media post suggested drug trafficking activity at an apartment on Woodland Dr. in Hay River. The post, which featured a firearm, led to a police investigation.
On November 22, RCMP executed a warrant at the location and seized a significant amount of illegal substances, including 17 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of fentanyl, over $3,000 in cash, a handgun, and ammunition.
While four other individuals were arrested during the operation, only Savy You was charged. He faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine and fentanyl, possession of an unauthorized restricted weapon, and possessing a firearm with a tampered serial number. Additionally, You is charged with failing to attend court and violating a release order, as he had previously missed a court appearance and was under an arrest warrant.
This marks You’s third arrest for drug trafficking in the N.W.T. within the same year, and he will remain in custody as the investigation continues. The case highlights ongoing efforts to address the growing concerns around drug-related crimes in the region.
