The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Savtej Singh, a sub-divisional engineer (SDE) at the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), in connection with irregularities involving the allocation of industrial plots. His arrest occurred after he surrendered to the authorities in Mohali on Tuesday.
According to the VB spokesperson, Singh allegedly established a fictitious company, M/s Gurtej Industries, under the name of one Gurtej Singh, utilizing forged documentation. Following this, he facilitated the allocation of plot number A-394 located in the Industrial Focal Point of Amritsar. Funds were reportedly transferred from the accounts of his son, Manroop Singh, and other relatives to the PSIEC to facilitate this process.
A case was initiated against Singh on March 8, leading to charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
After his court appearance in Mohali, Singh was remanded for three days to the custody of the Vigilance Bureau for further investigation.
