The Chittorgarh police on Sunday arrested Satyanarayan, a resident of Takhtpura, Parsoli, in connection with the brutal murder of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered in Orai dam on July 25.

The victim, later identified as Sonu alias Sonia, daughter of Prem Bheel from Parsoli, was found wrapped in a green mat with a 30–35 kg stone tied to her body to ensure it sank. The body was recovered in a decomposed state and kept at the mortuary in Sawaliyaji Hospital.

The murder came to light when a local labourer, Shambhulal, spotted the floating body and informed the Parsoli police. SP Manish Tripathi said a case was registered against unknown persons, and efforts began to identify both the victim and the perpetrator.

A dedicated team under ASP Bhagwat Singh, DSP Anjali Singh, and Parsoli Station Officer Shivraj Rao, with assistance from the cyber cell, investigated local missing persons and reviewed surveillance footage. Technical evidence eventually led to the identification of Sonia and her last known companion — Satyanarayan.

Following his arrest, Satyanarayan is currently under interrogation, with investigators probing the motive behind the murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
